For photographers

Deliver event photos from your Mac.

A practical checklist for handing over a wedding or event collection: prepare the right photographs, test the guest journey and agree when the album will be available.

1. Agree the delivery plan

Decide with the client which edited photographs guests should receive, how the album link may be shared and who will answer requests for a missing picture. Keep unrelated shoots and private photographs outside that event album.

  • Select the final exports you have permission to share. Keep the original files and your existing backup routine.
  • Agree an access window when the source Mac can stay awake and online, with Memories open. End it before the earlier of the link’s “Available until” date and your current trial or subscription expiry date shown in Memories. The 72-hour trial can end before the seven-day sharing link does.
  • Give guests an owner contact and a fallback way to receive a selected photograph if search or hosting is unavailable.

2. Set up Memories and prepare one album

The album owner needs an Apple silicon Mac, macOS 14 or later and about 1.3 GB for the app download. Guests use a browser; they do not need the Mac app. Follow the Mac download and account setup steps. The free download includes a separate 72-hour trial from signup, with no payment details or automatic charge.

Start with the fictional sample album before using client photographs. The existing sample instructions identify two pictures to import and a separate portrait to use as the face query. These samples demonstrate the workflow, not face accuracy.

Create an album for this event, import the intended exports and wait for import to finish. Check the contents, then enable sharing for that album and copy its HTTPS link from Memories. Do not construct a guest URL yourself or reuse another event’s link.

Sharing links expire seven days after they are enabled. In Share album, check the “Available until” date for this link and your trial or subscription expiry before agreeing the guest deadline. Memories displays these expiries as dates, not exact times; choose a deadline with a time and timezone before the earlier date rather than promising access throughout that date.

3. Test search and a download as a guest

Open the copied link in a separate browser session. Search with a clear face photograph of yourself or a consenting participant. The query searches only that album; review the returned photographs before downloading.

  • Confirm the link opens the intended event album while the Mac and Memories remain available.
  • Check that the search returns photographs from this album, then open a permitted download to confirm the file is usable.
  • Check the owner contact and sharing deadline in your handoff note against the link expiry shown in Memories and your current app-access expiry. A face match can be wrong or a photograph can be missed; offer a manual follow-up instead of promising every picture will be found.

4. Send a short, clear guest note

Share the tested link only with the people you intend to invite. Replace the placeholders below with your album link, agreed window, download deadline with a timezone, the “Available until” date shown in Memories and owner contact. The window must end before the earlier of that date and your current trial or subscription expiry date.

Your event photos are ready: [album link]. Planned access: [agreed window]. Please download by [deadline, time and timezone], before this link’s “Available until” date: [date shown in Memories]. Access also depends on the owner’s active app access and keeping the Mac and Memories online. Open the link in a browser, search with a clear photo of your own face, review the matching pictures and download the ones you want. If a picture is missing or the link will not open, contact [album owner].

Guests should review matches before saving or resharing them. Face search helps locate photographs; it is not identity authentication or proof that a result shows the right person.

5. Explain privacy and continued access

The local Memories library is encrypted and photo analysis runs on the Mac. A guest’s face query is sent to that Mac for processing, and shared content is transmitted to guests. Recipients can keep downloaded copies. Share only photographs and face queries you have permission to use; read the privacy policy for processing and retention details.

Shared galleries need the source Mac online, Memories open and app access active. After the signup trial, continued access requires a subscription if you choose to continue. The optional Apple subscription auto-renews at ₹499/month in India; other storefronts show their local price.

After access expires, viewing, downloads, in-app album deletion and hosting are blocked until access is restored. Photos remain on the Mac. Read the full access details before promising an ongoing delivery window.

6. Choose another workflow when the job needs it

For a client who needs the complete final collection, a direct file handoff may be simpler than asking them to search by face. Agree the delivery format and backup responsibility with the client, and test the files they receive.

If delivery must stay available while your Mac is offline, choose a workflow that stores the shared collection elsewhere. If the job needs client proofing or contributions from guests, confirm that the chosen service supports those tasks. Check its access controls, export resolution, retention and cost before committing.

For Apple’s sharing options and their version-dependent limits, use the Mac photo-sharing comparison, which links to Apple’s official instructions. Memories is an album and face-search workflow hosted by the source Mac, not a cloud backup service.

7. Close the window and retain your originals

Keep the source Mac and app available for the agreed window. When delivery ends, turn sharing off in Memories to block future album, result and media requests. This cannot recall copies guests have already downloaded or saved.

For a later window, first confirm active app access. If the link has expired, open Share album and choose “Enable album link”. To replace a still-active link, choose “Disable album link”, then “Enable album link”; disabling immediately invalidates the old link. Copy the current link, check its new “Available until” date, and retest guest search and a download before sending a revised window. Reopening Memories or choosing “Reconnect” does not extend an unexpired link.

Retain your original files and existing backups independently of the shared album. For a missing photograph, guests should contact the album owner: Memories support does not hold a cloud copy of the library. If you want to discuss your event workflow first, request an event demo from Cambria Solutions.
