Start with one event, trip or shoot

Create an album for a collection you want to revisit: a wedding, a family gathering, a portrait session or a trip. Add a small set of photographs first and let the import finish. A manageable first album makes it easier to understand the gallery and check the results before bringing in a larger collection.

Your original source files outside Memories are not modified. Keep those originals and your existing backup routine. The encrypted library is a working collection, and Memories is not a cloud backup service.

Find a person without scrolling through every frame

Open one album and search with a face photograph or the Mac camera. Memories compares that query with faces indexed in the album. The results stay within that selected album; this is not an internet-wide face search.

Review each match yourself. Angle, lighting, occlusion and similar-looking people can affect results. Face matching is a way to find photographs, not proof of a person's identity. Read how face search works.

Browse first, look closer when you want to

Browse the album's previews, open a photograph at full size and explore its photo insights. You can sort by name or best photograph and inspect similar frames together. Photography tags and estimates can help you explore; your own judgment decides which photographs matter.

The free sample-photo download gives you a small, repeatable way to try import and face search. The guide identifies two photographs to import and a separate portrait to hold out for the query.

Choose which albums to share

An imported album is not automatically a public gallery. Enable sharing for the chosen album and send its HTTPS link to the people you intend to invite. Guests can search that album and download the photographs returned to them.

The current release serves shared albums from your Mac. Keep the computer online, Memories running and app access active while guests use the link. Follow the private photo-sharing guide before sending your first album.

Is Memories the right kind of photo album app for you?

Memories fits a collection that you want to keep on an Apple silicon Mac, explore by face and share deliberately. It is a digital photo library and gallery app; it does not order printed photo books, back up the library to a cloud service or keep your hosted albums available while the source Mac is offline.

Check your Mac App Store for availability and local pricing. After the separate three-day signup trial, library viewing and sharing require an active subscription. Expiry preserves the encrypted local library but pauses app features. Read the complete access terms before importing your collection.
